Fleet Indian Day at Saratoga Race Course

Mr. Paul Saylor sponsors the annual Fleet Indian scholarship in honor of the Eclipse Award and Personal Ensign Winning mare, for a New York student planning to purse a career in Thoroughbred racing. Gabrielle will attend Morrisville State College this fall.
A drawing was held on track for a $1000 scholarship sponsored by Summer Wind Farm, Fleet Indian's current owners and won by Kerry Conelly, a junior at Siena College, majoring in finance. 2009 was a record year for New York students receiving scholarships. A big check presentation of $40,000 was also made by Jeff True to Patrick Raleigh, recipient of the Youbet.com/ National Turf Writers' Journalism scholarship. Patrick will attend Fordam University. Several RFE scholarship recipients were in attendance as well including Heather Gregorek, Leah Sheldon attended with her father, and Reyes Ceballos held down the information booth with long time, dedicated volunteer Mike Desano.
The day was topped off the RFE nominated horse Strike Again winning the 9th race for Pin Oak Stud.
