LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY, February 10, 2010—At last week’s meeting the board of directors elected David Ingordo, a bloodstock specialist who works with Juddmonte Farms and who helped Jerry and Ann Moss select undefeated champion Zenyatta as a yearling, as new chairman of the organization.

“After growing up and spending my life on the racetrack and seeing how hard the parents of the kids we help work to take care of our racehorses, day in and day out, it is great to repay their efforts and dedication by helping their children get a college education,” Ingordo said. “The added bonus of seeing those kids go to college and then come back into the industry makes the money feel very well spent.”

“David has made significant contributions, both financial and personal, and has been a great advocate for The Race For Education,” said Elisabeth Jensen, president and executive director.

In his first act as Chairman, Mr. Ingordo has organized a group to commission renowned horse racing artist, Pierre Bellocq, also known as PEB to do an illustration of Zenyatta and Mike Smith.  Limited edition prints, signed by John Sheriffs, Mike Smith and PEB will be produced with proceeds benefiting The Race For Education.   Signed, limited edition prints will be sold for $500, unsigned prints will be available for $175.00 and can be purchased at www.pebsite.com/zenyatta   Ingordo has also pointed out that he will personally focus on reinvigorating The Race Horse Nomination Program, led by fellow board member Joe Miller of Kern Thoroughbreds.  This program invites owners to nominate their horses to The Race For Education and agree to donate a percentage of the horses earnings to the foundation. This program has been represented by many great horses, including; Bernardini, Street Sense, Awesome Gem, Colonel John, Fleet Indian, Ashado and many others.

The organization is also joined by, Gail Peters Beitz, a New York City and Saratoga Springs resident who has been involved in racing for more than 35 years and whose father, Leone J. Peters, co-bred and co-owned Kentucky Derby winner Gato Del Sol, and Maegan Ford of Diamond A Farm, who attended University of Mississippi and Midway College and also serves on several local boards.
